PUBLIC SAFETY
Message from the Duarte Public Safety Department
The City of Duarte is proud to announce that first part of 2025 marks
the lowest level of reported Part I crimes in the past decade, with a
24.5% drop from 2024 and an impressive 44% decrease since crime
peaked in 2019. This continued progress reflects our strong, shared
commitment to public safety and making Duarte a safe, welcoming
community for all.
This success is made possible by the ongoing partnership between
residents, local businesses, and our devoted public safety personnel.
Whether it’s participating in Neighborhood Watch or reporting
suspicious activity and supporting one another, the community’s
involvement remains vital to keeping Duarte safe.
Public Safety Highlights 2025:
• Overall Crime Down 24.5% from 2024
Strategic prevention, increased visibility, and focused enforcement
have driven historic reductions, especially in burglary, assault, and
larceny.
• Retail Theft Reduced Through Business Watch
With the support of the Business Watch Program, local retailers
received targeted crime prevention training and enhanced security
measures.
• Catalytic Converter Thefts Drop Nearly 49%
Focused patrols, public outreach, and theft-deterrent campaigns
helped reduce thefts from 43 in 2023 to just 22 in 2024.
• Burglary Prevention in Action
Bicycle patrols were expanded and community education efforts
launched to reduce preventable vehicle burglaries.
Looking Ahead:
Smarter Technology for Safer Streets
To further enhance public safety in 2025, Duarte will be implementing
the Flock Safety Camera System, a network of real-time license plate
recognition (LPR) cameras designed to:
•
•
•
Identify and track stolen vehicles or suspects more efficiently
Provide real-time alerts to law enforcement
Serve as a visible deterrent to potential offenders
A Stronger Duarte Begins with Us
These accomplishments reflect the strength of our community and our
shared dedication to safety. By continuing to stay informed, involved,
and engaged, we can maintain this positive momentum.
A Personal Note:
As your Director of Public Safety, I want to thank
each of you for being an active part of this effort.
I’m proud of the work we’ve done together and
remain committed to ensuring Duarte is not
only safe but united. Let’s keep moving forward,
together.
