THE GLENDORA TRAILS COUNCIL
SATURDAY MORNING HIKES
COLBY/COLBY-DALTON TRAILS
Saturday, September 27 • 8:00am 2.3 miles - Moderate
Park at the north terminus of Loraine Avenue at the south
trailhead of Colby Trail. The hike begins here and travels north
and east to the junction of the Colby-Dalton Trail. The group
descends into Little Dalton Canyon and turns west back to the
starting point.
COMMUNITY HIKES
Throughout the year Trails Council
members conduct hikes in both Big Dalton
and South Hills Wilderness areas. The hikes
vary in length and difficulty, and are listed
by levels determined for those who do very
to little hiking. Duration of hikes may vary
due to difficulty, group size, and trail length.
Children twelve and under require adult
supervision, and NO pets allowed.
BIG DALTON CANYON TRAILS
Hikers should bring a day-pack with three

the steepest portion of the hike. We will proceed upstream via
the Big Dalton Canyon Trail until we reach the junction with Pavil

Canyon and Keiser Trails. From here, we will walk back down
canyon via the Coulter Pine Trail and Dunn Canyon Trails. We
will walk the remaining distance back to the Equestrian Center
unless the group leader arranges for a car shuttle among group
participants.

SOUTH HILLS WILDERNESS AREA TRAILS
Saturday, November 29 • 8:00am 1.5 miles - Moderate
Starting at the South Hills City Park and Dog Park at the east
terminus of Mauna Loa Ave., off Glendora Ave. The group will be
walking the Toyon, North Spur, Alosta Canyon, and Big Dalton
Wash Trails.

Wilderness Area trails? Do you want to
give back to the community and become
a part of something bigger? The Trails
Council may be the group for you! The Trails
Council meets monthly and is responsible
for general maintenance and improvement
of all existing trails within the city. The group
assists with Trails Day events twice a year,
as well as assisting in volunteer projects
under the City’s Adopt-A-Park Program.
