AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

This program does not meet on City holidays, school holidays,
school in-service and operates during the traditional school year
(unless noted below).
• Registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis and a wait list
will be taken after capacity is reached. Space is limited, register early.
• All locations offer extended care for early release days on Wednesdays
at 1:30 p.m. at $12 per participant per month.
• Participants must bring their own snacks.
STAR After-School Program
Recreation staff conducts drop-in after-school activities for youth 5
- 12 (up to 6th grade) years old to promote and enhance self-esteem
in a supervised environment. Activities include intramural sports,
games, dance, cheer, homework assistance, and computer activities.
No class 9/1, 9/12†, 10/13, 11/6-11/7†, 11/10*, 11/11,
11/24-28, 12/19*, 12/22-26, 12/29-31

Teens in Action
The Youth Opportunity Center offers drop-in after-school activities
for teens in grades 7-12, designed to boost self-esteem, encourage
social engagement, and develop essential soft skills. In a safe and
supervised environment, teens can enjoy a variety of activities
including cooking, games, tutoring, arts and crafts, job readiness, and
computer projects. Join us for an enriching experience that supports
personal growth and fun! Teens in Actions takes place August 12 -
December 20 and will need a parent/guardian registration packet to
be submitted at the Johnny Sotelo Youth Opportunity Center. For more

PROJECT HOPE
The Project Hope program promotes and encourages youth ages 12-17 to
volunteer at various events. Members meet weekly to discuss upcoming
activities and brainstorm on new projects to increase community
involvement. Members can add their volunteer experiences on to their
college applications and work resumes.
Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to, tutoring,
coaching, community cleanup events, assisting at marathon events, and
assisting at city-wide special events.

Time for Tots
Filled with hands-on learning activities reinforcing numbers, alphabet
and small/large motor development. Youth are involved in a variety of
activities including story time, group games, arts and crafts, shapes and
colors, outside play and holiday events. Daily lunch must be provided.
Tots must be potty trained. No class 9/1, 9/12, 10/13, 11/6-11/7,
11/11, 11/24-28, 12/22-26, 12/29-31

Little Explorers Inclusive Day Program

Join us in creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success!
Our Little Explorers Inclusive Day Program is designed to provide a
nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment for
children aged 3 to 5 years with diverse abilities. We offer a structured
yet flexible curriculum that supports early learning, communication,
motor skills, and social-emotional development. Our highly trained staff
fosters a warm, patient, and engaging environment where every child
is encouraged to explore, play, and reach their full potential. Notes:
Little Explorers must be potty trained, or parents/caregivers will need
to remain onsite during program hours. Little Explorers must provide
their own snacks each day. No class 9/1, 9/12, 10/13, 11/6-11/7,
