MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Friends,
In Baldwin Park, as the seasons change, so do we. As we welcome in the sunshine and long
days of summer, there are myriad opportunities to enjoy the season in a new way this year.
Between our beautiful parks and award-winning recreation facilities, there is something for
every Baldwin Park resident in this guide.
Over the years, our dedicated recreation staff have enjoyed organizing summer events and
activities that have become community staples. This year, we’re excited to again welcome
you to the Independence Day Spectacular, Nature & Wellness Walk, Street Market in the Park,
30th Annual Pride of the Valley 5K Run & Inaugural 10K, the hundreds of hours of recreation
programming and more.
The convergence of these community traditions and a new season marks the spot where
community grows. In Baldwin Park, we’re grateful that we have many such spots where our
community can congregate to grow stronger, more vibrant and more connected season
after season.
As our community grows, the City of Baldwin Park has been working hard to ensure our
network of parks and greenspace grows with it! Expanding the greenspace in our city is a
major priority - and one that will provide a wide range of environmental and health benefits,
both mental and physical, for our residents.
There are many exciting developments on the horizon. The second phase of construction on
a brand-new trail was recently completed, providing a safer way for residents to commute
through our community on foot or bike. The City completed its Community Engagement
Meetings and the design of Ana Montenegro Park, which will be the first new park established
in Baldwin Park since its incorporation.
Also, construction on improvements to Barnes Park are rapidly moving along. Finally, major
upgrades are completed to Morgan Park, including a restroom expansion and remodel. With
additional improvements new basketball courts, playgrounds and splash pads for community
enjoyment are in the works.
At the Baldwin Park Recreation and Community Services Department, we believe that parks
make life better. And on behalf of the Department, we thank you for sharing a little bit of that
life with your community at our parks this summer. We can’t wait to see you out there soon!
Sincerely,
Manuel Carrillo Jr.
Director of Recreation and Community Services
