VETERANS MONUMENT
The Placentia Veterans Monument honors military service
veterans and active-duty personnel who were raised,
educated, or enlisted from Placentia. Each year, new
names are added to the monument prior to the Veterans
Day Observance Ceremony on November 11th. Those
eligible for inscription include Placentia residents who
have served in the military, as well as individuals who have
lived in the City for 25 years or more and served or are
currently serving in the armed forces. All honorees must
have been honorably discharged. There is no charge for
adding a name to the monument, and applications can be
obtained at the Police Department.
VETERANS DAY OBSERVANCE CEREMONY
The City of Placentia will host the 37th Annual Veterans
Day Observance Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11th,
at 10:00 a.m. at the Placentia Civic Center. This special
event honors the sacrifices made by the men and women
who have served our country. The ceremony will feature
guest speakers, patriotic music, and a recognition of
the new recipients of the Military Banner Recognition
Program. Additionally, the names of those added to the
Veterans Monument will be unveiled and celebrated. We
invite all residents, veterans, and their families to join us in
this commemorative event.
THE PLACENTIA MILITARY BANNER
RECOGNITION PROGRAM
The Placentia Military Banner Recognition Program, known
as Placentia "Hometown Heroes," is accepting applications
for the 2025 installation through October 20th. This
program honors Placentia residents who are currently
serving on active duty or are honorably discharged veterans
in the United States Armed Forces. It recognizes service
members from all branches, including the Air Force, Army,
Coast Guard, Marines, National Guard, Navy, and Space
Force. To be eligible, individuals must either be current
residents of Placentia, have an immediate family member
(parent, spouse, son, daughter, grandparent) residing in
Placentia, or be employed in Placentia. Additionally, service
members must be employed in Placentia for at least one
year or have enlisted from the city.
The banners will be displayed
along Kraemer Boulevard
and Yorba Linda Boulevard,
with installations scheduled
for November. Each banner
will remain on display for
two years and will be given
to the honoree at the end of
this period. The cost for each
customized banner is $260,
and only one banner per
service member is allowed.
Applications are available on
