MAYOR'S MESSAGE
A Season of
Community & Celebration
As we begin to wrap up the year, let’s take a moment to
celebrate what makes Signal Hill truly special: our diversity,
our community, and the many cultures that shape who we
are. These connections are at the heart of every celebration,
helping each of us feel seen, valued, and proud to call Signal
Hill home.
Another meaningful opportunity to connect is the 2025
State of the City, scheduled for Thursday, September 18.
This annual event is a time to reflect on our progress, share
future goals, and highlight the work being done to ensure
a vibrant and inclusive Signal Hill. I hope to see you there
as we come together in celebration of our shared vision.
Please RSVP by Wednesday, September 3, to comservices@
cityofsignalhill.org. Space is limited.
That spirit of connection continues with upcoming City events, including the Halloween
Carnival on Saturday, October 25. Join us at Signal Hill Park for an afternoon of family-friendly
fun featuring Trunk or Treat, carnival games, a bounce house, and more. Wristbands are
required for individuals ages one and up and will be available from Wednesday, October 1
through Friday, October 24 at the Parks, Recreation & Library Services office during business
hours. For more information, call (562) 989-7330.
In November, we will also commemorate Interfaith Month of Gratitude, a time to recognize
and celebrate the many traditions that promote understanding, unity, and appreciation during
the holiday season. This observance encourages mutual respect and supports our ongoing
commitment to inclusivity.
As my time as Mayor comes to a close at the end of the year, I invite you to join me for the
upcoming Mayor’s Reception on Wednesday, December 10. It will be a chance to share my
gratitude, reflect on the past year, and thank you for your continued support and engagement.
Call the Parks, Recreation and Library Services Department for more details at (562) 989-7330.
To close out the year, we invite you to join us for two festive holiday events. On Thursday,
November 20 at 6:00 P.M., celebrate the season at our Tree Lighting Ceremony at Signal Hill
Park. Following that, keep the holiday spirit going on Wednesday, December 17 at 5:00 P.M. at
Santa’s Workshop, held at the Signal Hill Public Library. This free, family-friendly event includes
cookie decorating, holiday crafts, face painting, Storytime, karaoke, a book giveaway, and a
special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
This season, I encourage you to take part in these events and programs that bring people of
all ages and backgrounds together. Signal Hill is a place where the community thrives through
connection, and it is through that connection that we continue to grow stronger.
Keir Jones
Mayor
