GARDEN WORKSHOPS Ages 10+

Join our monthly gardening workshops to learn the basics of
gardening and how to enhance the beauty of your home gardens. This
event is a free program open to the public. No plot is needed. Please
note that space is limited. Registration required.
MASTER ZUMBA CLASS All ages
Saturdays, 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
Location: Signal Hill Park

Join our fun, high-energy Zumba class for all ages! Whether you're a
beginner or a seasoned dancer. It's a great way to get fit, have fun, and
dance your way to a healthier you. No registration required.

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING?
Are you interested in volunteering with the City of Signal Hill? Email
comservices@cityofsignalhill.org to let us know you are interested and
one of our team members will reach out about volunteer opportunities
with the City. You can also pick up a volunteer application packet at
Signal Hill Parks, Recreation and Library Services Office or the Signal Hill
Public Library Circulation Desk.
SUMMER VOLUNTEER SOCIAL Ages 8+
Thursday, July 24, 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Location: Library Community Room
Are you a current Signal Hill Volunteer or interested in being a
volunteer for the City? We invite you to attend our quarterly volunteer
social. Come stay cool during the heat of summer and enjoy a fun
activity. Find out more about the City’s volunteer programs and meet
both current and hopeful volunteers. This is a family-friendly activity,
so kids are welcome to attend while you connect with other service-
minded community members.

FAMILY & SENIOR
FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM
The City of Signal Hill provides a monthly supplement
of groceries for families and senior citizens in need of support. These
programs are available to low-income Signal Hill residents by application
only and available on a first come, first-served basis. Contact Parks,
Recreation, and Library Services at 562-989-7330 for questions or email
comservices@cityofsignalhill.org.
Family Food Distribution Program: Eligible families receive a monthly
allocation to Mother’s Nutritional Market.
Senior Food Distribution Program: Eligible senior citizens receive a
monthly distribution of supplemental groceries.
SUBSIDIZED TRANSPORTATION
Do you know a Signal Hill resident aged 62 or older who might need help
with getting a ride to a doctor’s appointment? Is there a Senior Citizen
in your neighborhood who uses the Long Beach Transit? We can help!
Residents ages 62 or older or who are 18 years and older and can
provide a proof of disability signed by a licensed physician are eligible
for these subsidized transportation programs. Contact 562-989-7330 for
all transportation questions.
Transportation Programs Include:
• Bus Passes: monthly low-cost bus pass for seniors (62 years +)
• Dial-A-Taxi: Curb-to-curb transportation for seniors (50 years +)
• Dial-A-Lift: Accessible transportation for residents with limited mobility

Hilltop Park and the Signal Hill Dog Park. Select the beautiful location
that offer picturesque views of the surrounding areas and even out to
Catalina Island. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate any kind of
momentous occasion or commemorate your furry friend at the Signal
Hill Dog Park.
