MAYOR'S MESSAGE
Get Ready for a Summer of Fun
in Signal Hill!
Summer is a time for growth, connection, and new opportunities, and the
City of Signal Hill is proud to continue programs that promote education,
leadership, and community spirit. These initiatives reflect our shared values
and our commitment to helping residents learn, lead, and engage with one
another.
The Signal Hill Leadership Academy is back, offering an inside look at how local government works
through interactive sessions led by City staff and elected officials. This free program will take place
on Thursdays, August 7-28, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and is open to Signal Hill residents
ages 18 and older. It's a fantastic opportunity to build partnerships between the City and the
community. Dinner and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP by Thursday, July 17 the form
is available on the City website. For more information, call (562) 989-7309.
Join us for Movies in the Park! Bring the whole family and your picnic blanket, for a free evening of
cinematic fun. Our first movie of the season is Inside Out Two on Friday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy
a bounce house, free popcorn, and a relaxing night under the stars. Thank you to our sponsors for
making this event possible for the community.
As we continue to grow and connect as a community, we invite you to our upcoming Concerts in
the Park series Wednesday’s, kicking off on Wednesday, July 9 at 6:30 p.m. with FM Frequency—a
high-energy mashup band—at Signal Hill Park (2175 Cherry Avenue). These free outdoor concerts
are a great way to celebrate summer with family, friends, and neighbors. Enjoy live music,
community booths, raffles, and a vibrant atmosphere that highlights the spirit of Signal Hill. Please
bring a blanket or lawn chair and make lasting summer memories together.
Mark your calendars for National Night Out is Tuesday, August 5, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
at Signal Hill Park. Hosted by the Signal Hill Police Department, this event is a great way to meet
our officers, learn more about public safety, and show your appreciation for those who serve and
protect our community.
Education remains a top priority in Signal Hill and will offer another year of our free tutoring
program to continue supporting student success. Offering math assistance for students of all ages,
this program helps ensure every learner has the tools to thrive. We’re proud to invest in our youth
and champion lifelong learning. We would like to recognize and give a special thanks to Signal Hill
Petroleum for their generous sponsorship to ensure this program remains free to the community.
Together, programs like these reflect our City’s commitment to unity, growth, and opportunity. We
invite you to follow on our social media and participate in all programs this summer on the hill.
Wishing you a bright, fun-filled, and enriching summer!
