DEBBIE FRIEDMAN: FOLKSINGER AS
JEWISH FEMINIST REVOLUTIONARY
In the early 1970s, Debbie Friedman (1951-2011), a Jewish
summer camp and choir leader, transformed synagogue
music by blending traditional Hebrew and English lyrics with
contemporary folk-rock. Beginning in St. Paul and later in
Chicago, she introduced a joyful, accessible “summer camp” style
that resonated across generations. Challenging both musical
and gender norms, Friedman revolutionized Jewish worship
and left a lasting impact on modern Jewish practice. This lecture
offers a brief overview of her life and her musical and social
contributions.

EASTWOOD RANCH FOUNDATION
ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER
The Eastwood Ranch Foundation is looking for people who
love animals and enjoy working with other like-minded people
helping find rescued pets new homes, or just to spend time
socializing with them. This discussion opens up the doors to
the Eastwood Ranch Rescue to allow people to get a better
understanding on how animal rescue works, where the rescued
animals come from, what special needs they may have and how
time spent with them really can help find a new forever home.
Being able to volunteer, foster a pet or even help with social
events, can be life changing for the animal and the person
helping.
