Remarkable Careers
JANET STONE | Library Director
Janet Stone was hired as a Senior Librarian in October 2007, overseeing
the adult services division. She assisted with the Library Strategic Planning process that culminated in a plan that was launched in 2013 (implemented during her tenure as Library Director).
Janet was part of the team that saw the expansion of the Library with the
Friends Room, and reorganization of the Children’s Room. She helped with
two re-carpeting projects, and assisted in the cleanup of several Library
flooding events
In December 2013 Janet was promoted to oversee all Library operations as
Library Director. A Rotarian since 2014, she has been an instrumental leader
for youth programs, including Youth Leadership Academy, Teen Leadership
Academy, and High School Interact Club. Janet has been a member of
Coordinating Council for nearly two decades, serving several terms as
program coordinator and parliamentarian and being recognized with the
Humanitarian Award.
Janet has been on the Administrative Council for the Southern California
Library Cooperative since 2013, and has served on the Executive Committee,
including a term as Chair.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Janet’s leadership helped ensure the Glendora community had continued
access to Library services through staff innovations. During Janet’s time as Director, the Library’s first mobile
app was created, the online eLibrary was expanded and enhanced to allow for customers to access information anytime/anywhere, the online community archive project was launched, public WiFi access at all City facilities was established as a Library program (with funding from a State Library grant), the expansion of the Library

collection beyond traditional books and AV materials to science kits, telescopes, hiking kits, and more.
Janet retired from the City of Glendora in July, 2025. City leaders, staff, and community members all wish her well
in her next chapter!
JOHN AGUIRRE | Recreation & Human Services Director
John Aguirre began his distinguished career with the City of Glendora in
September of 1989, at age 25 as a Recreation Supervisor. Over the past 36
years with Glendora, John has become a cornerstone of the Recreation and
Human Services Department. His leadership, dedication, and unwavering
commitment have helped shape countless programs, events, and
memories for generations of Glendorans.
He was first promoted to Senior Recreation Supervisor in October of 1991,
then promoted again in July 1996 to the role of Superintendent. He was promoted to Community Services Director (now Recreation and Human Services) in June of 2019, where he has served with unmatched energy and
vision.
John has overseen transformative projects that have left a lasting mark on Glendora, including the skatepark (1999), Timothy Crowther Teen Center (2003), and Louie Pompei Park (2007). Most recently, John led efforts of the turf project renovation at Louie Pompei Memorial Sports Park (2023) and
up until his retirement he will be overseeing progress on the South Hills Bike
Park Project.
Outside of the office, John is a devoted husband, proud father of three, loving
grandfather, and a lifelong advocate for youth development. He’s coached high school football and basketball,
youth softball and baseball, and continues to inspire confidence, teamwork, and growth in the next generation.
John’s dedication to community includes service as GHS Football Booster Club President, coach at National
Little League and Glendora Lassie League, as well as active roles in Kiwanis and the Glendora Christmas Parade
Committee. His passion for recreation is matched only by his belief in the power of connection whether through
special events, enriching classes, memorable trips, or mentoring tomorrow’s leaders.
John’s legacy is one of heart, hustle, and hometown pride and Glendora is better because of him.
