CITY NEWS
YOU ARE NOT ALONE
(Y.A.N.A.) PROGRAM
One of the greatest fears of older adults is being alone and
isolated. Additionally, for family members who are not near
their loved ones, suddenly not being able to get in touch with
a relative can lead to anxiety and result in calling for a "Welfare
Check," where our officers go to the residence to ensure that
everything is ok.
To alleviate this, the Y.A.N.A. program, coordinated through
our VIPS (Volunteers in Police Services), will regularly contact
participants through phone calls, home visits, or a combination
of both, depending on each participant's individual needs.
Our VIPS do not provide medical assistance but instead offer
a measure of security to participants and their families, that
extra, regularly scheduled attention is being paid to them.
To learn more about this program, visit www.placentia.org/
police or contact (714) 993-8179 or kkrahling@placentia.org.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2025
This year's National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August
5th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Placentia Town Center,
110 E. Yorba Linda Boulevard at Kraemer Blvd.
We will be joined by Placentia Fire and Life Safety, Placentia
Public Safety Communications Center, Placentia Police K9
Foundation, C.E.R.T., Community Services, and many more!
There will be hands-on activities, live demonstrations,
information booths hosted by businesses and civic groups,
food, and fun for everyone to enjoy.
This is an excellent opportunity to meet your First
Responders, ask questions, try on gear, see our equipment,
and learn more about the different jobs performed by each
Department. You'll also learn what resources are in and
around Placentia for you and your family. If you want to be a
vendor at National Night Out, visit www.placentia.org/nno or
contact kkrahling@placentia.org.
